Abstract

The study conducted to check the impact of variable date of sowing for disease resistance and yield stability in two consecutive years 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 at two different locations Faisalabad and Kallurkot. Three different date of sowing 25th of October, 3rd and 10th of November were selected for screening of sixteen chickpea, genotypes (Desi and Kabuli advance lines and commercial varieties as check). Data were recorded for days to 50% flowering, plant height, primary and secondary branches, pods per plant, 100 grain weight and grain yield per plant. The highest grain yield per plot in both years was produced by Desi advance line, D-12026, D-12034 and in Kabuli, advance line K-70005 at Faisalabad location. The comparison of sowing dates manifested that at 25th October the plant health remained good and was less effected with wilt and produced enhanced grain yield. The 3rd November and at 10th of November plant growth remain stunted and bear low number of pods per plant ultimately produce low yield. The grain yield of Desi and Kabuli chickpea at two locations Pulses Research Institute (PRI) Faisalabad and GBRSS (Gram Breeding Research Sub Station) Kallurkot had significant variation. The grain yield (kg/ha) was significant high in research area of PRI, Faisalabad.
