Abstract

Liquid chromatography (LC) and mass spectroscopy (MS) are the techniques used for qualitative and
quantitative sepration mixture of compounds. Although they both are powerful techniques they have
their limitations when used alone. To over the drawbacks they are combined and a hypenated
technique LC/MS is developed. LC/MS is an analytical technique that combines the ability of
High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) to seprate compounds in a sample, with the
power of Mass spectrometry as a detector. The review also highlightes the readers the instrumenation
of LC/MS with each components explained in detail. The review also focus on few important
applications of LC/MS in bioanalytical and biomedical study, qualitative analysis and clinical drug
Analysis.
