Abstract

The female reproductive system has been studied in 110 species under 50 genera belonging to 24 subfamilies of family Curculionidae. In a large majority of the subfamilies, each ovary comprises 2 ovarioles. The only variation is seen in the subfamilies Rhynchitinae and Apoderinae where 4-5 ovarioles/ovary have been recorded.
